INDONESIA - a country of diversity: people, culture, income and history. Being one of the most populated country in the world (5th in fact, after China, India, Japan & U.S.A) this country is amazingly distant from the world; most of the population (population: 224.78 million) are not concerned what happen in the world but rather where they are going to find the next meal. This 17,508 (Whoa!) islands country is currently undergoing key political ideology and economic crisis. Before the 1997 economic crisis, people here were simple and very friendly. An amazing country with thousand-year history and culture. Discover the beauty for yourself! Facts about Indonesia Capital: Jakarta (Pop.: 17 million). Area: 1,919,440 sq km. Population: 224.78 million. Languages: Bahasa Indonesia, Javanese. National Holiday: Independence Day, Aug. 17 (1945). GDP Per Capita: US$2,800. Currency: Indonesia Rupiah (RP.) = 100 sen.

| | BOROBUDUR - 1 of 7 wonders of the world!
One of the 7 WONDERS OF THE WORLD is in Indonesia! Do you know that? Well, now you know! It's the splendid BOROBUDUR TEMPLE! (Also known as CANDI BOROBUDUR in Bahasa Indonesia, Indonesia's national language.).
OK, so we are one of those lucky few who have the opportunity to visit this wonder; it has only been excavated some 25 years ago and I can only wonder: how can something so extraordinary laid underground for almost 900 years!
To the whole world this amazing architecture was lost for centuries and even the most famous historic leaders may not have seen it. So, I count myself one of the most lucky of all times to have visited and experienced the wonder of humanity!!!
It's like visiting the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Wall of China and the Grand Canyon! So, wait no more! |

And they are so difficult to find over here :-( | Confucius Mon Apr 5, 2004 02:49 UTC I'm planning my next trip to Indonesia. I wish for my first crossing south of the equator to be at either Pontianak or Bonjol. Right now I'm leaning toward Pontianak because it's easier but I believe the area surrounding Bonjol is more beautiful. | salinhopt Fri Feb 20, 2004 16:40 UTC Hi Sharrie!
