Speaking of
LONDON, what comes to mind?
The Royal Family? Yes, the monarchy has come to represent the 4 important components part of UK; namely England, Scotland, Wale & Northern Ireland. The Queen, being the head of the Anglican Church has also played a part in the political life of Britain. She chooses the Prime Minister nominally & has the power to dissolve the Parliament at his/her request. Queen Elizabeth II was crowned on June 2, 1953.
The successors to the throne are:
1) Prince Charles - Prince of Wales.
2) Prince William.
3) Prince Harry.
4) Prince Andrew - Duke of York.
5) Prince Edward.
6) Prince Anne - Princess Royal.
The London Theatres?Definitely some of the best in the world. Operas, ballet & musicals. Some of the very famous are The Palace Theatre, The National Theatre, The Old Bedford & The West End (Albery Theatre & Royal Opera House). On one of my trips to London, I managed to see Les Miserables! A moving & fabulous production!
Tea, anyone?
Since the 18th-century, tea has become a fashionable refreshment for the British. In the 19th-century Anna, the Duchess of Bedford began to serve tea & cake between lunch & dinner. Subsequently, Queen Victoria popularized the ritual of afternoon tea.
