This is the beginning of my 10-day tour originating from Madrid to Southern Spain & then backtracking on the eastern coast heading towards Barcelona. I was happy to leave Madrid as the cold weather was a little too much for me. Joining the local tour (with English speaking guide, of course!) seemed like a good idea since I don't speak a word of Spanish! It was a huge group of multi-national tourists, about 40 of them! Australians, Brazilians, Chinese, Europeans, Japanese, Korean, Paraguey (ians?), Chilians & of course, Americans! It was great fun... getting to know one another & sharing experiences as well as cultural shocks :-))
Heading southward, we arrived at SEVILLE, the capital of ANDALUSIA where the Romans left their marks in this southern province. Andalusia is also Spain's most varied region with dramatic desert in the east, nice beaches in Costa del Sol & winter scenery in the Sierra Nevada! The 3 inland cities of Andalusia, namely Sevilla, Cordoba & Granada have been under great influence from the Moors who left many splendid architecture such as Mezquita, Alhambra & the Moorish bell tower, La Giralda, of Seville Cathedral.
