'Mode': AROUND

Getting TO/AROUND: The taxi ride from the airport should be enough to convince you that driving is only for the very corageous. Limenos seem to observe only one rule while driving -- wait a second after your light turns green because certainly someone is running their red light. After that it sdeems like a free for all, with lane markings and other directions apparently only placed on the roads for ornamentation.
Being in a taxi might not seem much safer, but at least these guys are professsionals with experience. You aren't.
As for he combos and mini-buses, they are not considered safe, either for the way they drive (we saw one almost tip over) or for what can appen to you during a crash (no seatbelts). Given the cheap prce of taxis, I recommend looking one over well (pick one with seat belts) and negotiating a good price, then getting in. Taxis come with the addeed bonus of a talkative driver who won't mind your minimal Spanish.
