....The unique experience of Coral Spawning!
Local divers talk about sex of the reefs, some mention sex on the reefs.
Coral Spawning in Curaçao occurs 7 days after the ninth full moon of the calendar year (in September). The 2013 spawning will be on September 26.
During this time in the evenings, sometime after 9:00 P.M., corals will release their eggs and sperm. This is Curaçao's coral reproductive season, which they display as miniature beads of lights bouncing off them. If you're lucky, you can be one of the few divers to witness Coral Spawning in Curaçao this year. This phenomenon is a wonderful experience.

'We have to define the Curaçao Experience,' a former director of the Curaçao Tourism and evelopment Bureau (CTDB) once said. Many hotels are now operated by famous international chains and have been upgraded drastically. In the meantime, many projects regarding tourism have been set up all over the island (and especially in Otrobanda). We have to focus on the Curaçao Experience. The consumer buys an experience and we have to define what that means for Curaçao. First we have to ask ourselves what is the essence of this Curaçao Experience. That may be difficult, but what we know already is what it is NOT. It is not artificial, not like Disney or Aruba with a row of beaches in a hotel destination area. Curaçao is diverse and integrated. This island is not fit for mass-tourism! We focus on tourists who feel comfortable when meeting people on the island. Who want to explore and experience something new and unique. The reason the all-inclusive market works, is because groups of people stay outside the community. They think they are, f.i., in Jamaica but do not go out to explore the country. Instead, they are offered PART of the community, PART of the music, dance and food. We reach out to the tourists who feel comfortable going into the community, taking more risks.
Community based tourism, and certainly the heritage with its history of slavery, will be the foundation for the development of tourism, presented in an urban area. There is greatpotential in a combination of Willemstad and the West Coast with its nature, adventure and peace. Willemstad is a unique product. There are very few cities where people feel comfortable enough to visit them. Willemstad is one of the. The Curaçao Experience is there for you to grasp!
"For those who think they know all about the Caribbean.....: there still is Curaçao. Real. Different."
I intend to make some pages of places i have visited, but since i do not have that much time i will concentrate on the place i know best: my beautiful island of CURAÇAO
part of the constellation of the Netherlands Antilles, that again is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. I would like to show you around, and keep you informed on the latest happenings and activities to come. Planning is half the fun and maybe you get tempted to come and visit Curaçao some day.
Please note that this site is under construction. But if you need any information short hand: send me an e-mail and i will personally attend to your questions! For a pretty good insight of my home island: check out Spartan's page on the Netherlands Antilles!
