They should really call it, awe-inspiring, send chills down your spine, jaw dropping beauftiful canyon, because that is exactly what happened when I saw it for the first time. The canyon is so big that when you first see it you don't register as it being real. All the pictures you've seen (including mine) don't do justice to the real thing. You have to see it for yourself. If you do go,the best time is the winter months because the air is clear. In the summer months, smog from near by Las Vegas and other cities enters the canyon and ruins the views. The South Rim is usally open starting around March, but the North Rim doesn't open until later in the year. If you have lots of time, you may want to back pack in the canyon, or ride a raft down the Colorado. But if you want the whole experience, The South Rim is the way to go. You can drive into the park, pay $20 and use this pass for a few days. The pass includes bus rides to all the vistas not accessible by car. |
