although I never encountered any problems- its well known that the station termini (sp) is a tourist trap for pickpockets, or young kids begging for money..also when buying from street vendors- you might feel harrassed, best to ignore them without eye contact- I found it was not easy to avoid them, but the 'talk to the hand' method works too.
