Yokohama is a very likeable city, with it's face turned towards the sea and its harbourside areas pleasingly accessible.
The Minato Mirai 21 district is the pulsing electric new heart of the city, but the Chinatown area and the gentle lowrise nature of the city also add to its charm.

Minato Mirai 21, Yokohama.

I returned to Yokohama on another business trip in March 2005. It was very cold and unfortunately it rained most of the time. However, the first day I was there was a stunning sunny Sunday. Again I stayed in the cool Minato-Mirai 21 area, one of my favourite spots in Japan.

Pros and Cons

Pros:The waterfront area is great, an attractive city at a human scale.
Cons:Limited subway routes, but good above ground railways.
In a nutshell:My favourite city in Japan.

Yokohama doesn't seem as chaotic as Tokyo-nice harbor town really. I'm always checking out new hotels and I like your tip about the Navios Yokohama Hotel-great rate for a nice room!
