Unique Qualities: The guesthouse is in a really quiet part of town and is right on the waterfront so it has a nice outlook. It is only 5 minutes easy stroll to the main Post Office and Friends Cafe in the town centre. The proprietor, Ms Fashimi, is really friendly and welcoming. The Fijian housekeeper (whose name I regretably have forgotten) is also a real angel. The rooms are simple but clean and you have your own bathroom - with hot water (something you are grateful for after a week without it on the other islands of Tonga).

Unique Qualities: Fantastic view over the Port of Refuge north towards the town. The restaurant is a place you could sit and chat in, gazing at the view from time to time for ages! Also, the manager and his wife are really friendly.

B&B is about T$50 a night, however I paid T$25 a night without breakfast.

Unique Qualities: Immaculately tidy inside. Lavishly furnished.
Right on the waterfront and rooms on the west side of the building get a nice view.
A large deck overlooking the harbour and all the yachts, is a nice place to sit and read or write postcards.

Unique Qualities: Lifuka is about as far away as you can get from the rush and stress of the western world. Take a good book or three (if the weather is dreary you'll need them) and stock up on stamps before leaving Nuku'alofa.
The Lindsay Guesthouse is a peaceful, clean retreat. There is a bakery attached where you can buy fresh bread (yum!) and other basic supplies. The living area and shared kitchen are very pleasant and the rooms are adequate for what all travellers need - sleep. My matress was a little thin, but at $T15 a night, one can't complain.

The guesthouse is at the crossroad of Loto Rd and Tuita Rd. Walk past the big 'highrise' Catholic School, heading south and then take the second road on your left.
