San Francisco was my last stop on a 3 week journey of discovery down the Pacific North-west coast from Vancouver in Canada. It was also the last point of my 6 day road trip from Seattle. San Francisco is a very picturesque city and a great place to explore on foot, despite all the hills. The city's built environment is fascinating, with art-deco, Edwardian, Victorian and modern architecture all over the city. The other thing that makes this city very interesting is the contrasting neighbourhoods. There's the art-deco, pastel neighbourhood of The Marina, the Hispanic feeling The Mission district, the famous but surprisingly suburban Castro area and the intensely oriental Chinatown. To add to this there's the photogenic views of the famous bridges and the downtown skyline, plus the much photographed Lombard Street. San Francisco has a lot to keep any visitor engaged for at least a week! UNDER CONSTRUCTION - 13 MAY 2007 |

| | The Coit Tower is a "must see and do" for any visitor to San Francisco. It's unobstructed views from Telegraph Hill will help you plan out those walking tours you simply have to do in this attractive and varied city. |

Contrasting neighbourhoods will intrigue." | | Cons: | "Like all US cities it's expensive, some downtown areas are a bit spooky at night and should be avoided." | | In A Nutshell: | "A fascinating place to visit and one full of sights! I'd love to go back." |
