  • Fondest Memory: The Trevi Fountain had to be my most memorable sight in Rome. The beautiful water and the stunning sculpture behind it were unforgetable. Even the hordes of tourists gathered around it didn't bother me. Get an icecream from the nearby shop and enjoy it.

  • Fondest Memory: After the Trevi Fountain, this had to be my second favourite place. It is one of the most ancient buildings in Rome, apparently dating back to the first century! Entrance is free and if you are lucky, get into one of the free tours there. At noon the sunlight shines through a hole in the roof and a beam of dusty sunshine pierces through the dark and illuminates the entry-way. The dome is huge and was the inspiration for the great cathedral dome makers of later times. The architectural bits of trivia are mind blowing. The last King of Italy is buried there as is the painter Raphael. Don't miss the Pantheon. It is truly impressive.

Piazza Navona: Spend time in Piazza Navona.

  • A fountain in Piazza Navona.

  • Fondest Memory: This is a beautiful square surrounded by imposing buildings and topped off by a marvelous fountain in the centre. The centre fountain depicts four of the world's great rivers - each one personified. This picture is of a smaller, yet no less romantic, fountain at the northern end of the Piazza. In the afternoon the place is full of side-walk vendors selling arts and crafts. There are lots of people who paint in the square as well at that time.

You highlighted all of MY favorite Roman spots too! Pza.Navonna-sitting there is just heaven. Would you know the name of the gelateria that's located across from the Trevi Fountain?
