Venice - the Serene Republic, is a truely enthralling place. It's also expensive and crawling with tourists. However, a couple of days isn't enough and I would love to go back and explore and get to know this fantastic city more. There's plenty of scope to lose oneself in the back waters of Venice and it is there that a real picture of this beautiful city - where the awesome sea is confronted with the stonework and imagination of man - sets a stage for a uniquely urban scenic drama. It is the juxtaposition of water and brick or stone that makes Venice such a sight. Whenever I'm asked what my favourite place on my Europe trip was, I say it was all great; but Venice comes as close to the top as I am prepared to place any of my destinations. It really is a magic place.

I agree that Venice is a magical place-it's truly unique too. Wanna revisit as it's been quite a few years. Again your tips are on the mark. I especially liked the one about getting lost. It's true but in Venice getting lost is actually a good thing!:-)
