That's how Queenstown sells itself and there is no doubt that it is right at the top of just about every visitor's list of places to see.
I have to say that the town itself didn't do much for me at all. The setting and surrounding region is the big star. It's a shame the town hasn't been planned to fit into its surroundings a little better. The traffic is like something straight out ot the big city... so be patient if you're driving.
Queenstown is not cheap. Accommodation is outrageously priced, but I guess they can get away with it. The YHA, where I stayed, is good value.
However, if you want stunning scenery and maybe even the adrenalin raising thrill of throwing yourself at it, over it, or through it, then you've come to the right place. Queenstown rightly boasts being the aventure capital of NZ, though I am not sure I class any of the expensive 'blink and you miss it' thrill rides as adventure.
This place can offer just about anything for any type of traveller and that, when it comes down to it, is why it's so successful at what it does. Make sure you put Queenstown on your itinerary: there's bound to be something there to make your visit memorable.
