I had three trips to or through France during 2000 and 2001. I never really thought I would visit much of that country. France is surprisingly beautiful and contrary to popular belief, the people are friendly and helpful.
My first visit to France was actually in the week after Christmas, 2000. I went to Paris and totally enjoyed that stunning city. See my Paris page for pictures and more thoughts.
My second visit to France in July 2001, was a short one-day trip with the school I was working at in England. Unfortunately it rained all day and we saw very little. We had planned to stop in Boulogne for a walk around the Saturday morning market and the fish market. However, we ended up driving through the town. The huge town walls and the very tall dome of a building behind them looked intriguing.
We also went to Le Touquet, but the weather there was just as awful - windy, cold, and drenching wet. Us staff just had a cup of coffee in a cafe. It looked like a nice place... the beach is big.
My last trip to France, was actually through the south during my recent Mediterranean Meander. I had a week, stopping in Carcasonne, Avignon, and Nice. All of these places had their own particular charm and I have fond memories. Hopefully these few pictures do them justice.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Beautiful scenery, friendly people, delicious food, fantastic castles and walled towns.
Cons:Some things are a little bit more expensive.
In a nutshell:A wonderful country that I would like to see more of one day.
