April 2004 saw me visiting Bangkok for the first time. It was the end of the Songkran festival - the Thai New Year. The city was lovely and quiet, but April was a very hot time to visit. Temperatures were in the low forties on two days I was there.
With only a few days to see some sights I stayed in the city, very much on the beaten trail, visiting Wat Phra Keow (The Temple of the Emerald Buddha), Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn), and Wat Pho (The Temple of the Reclining Buddha).
In April 2005, I returned on another business trip, but had one day where I could do a little bit of sightseeing. This time it wasn't Songkran and the streets of Bangkok were very busy!
- Pros:Magnificent temples to admire, a good place for shopping.
- Cons:The traffic and heat can combine to make it all pretty tough going at times.
- In a nutshell:A city you must experience at least once in a lifetime.

I experienced the same as you at Lumpini Park, with hundreds of people exercising and doing aerobics. I'd loved to join them but not in that heat.
Great tips and nice pics.
Nice pics here! Looking forward to going back to BKK soon!
BKK's Grand Palace and its temples are very impressive indeed.
Love the details of your Wat Arun. My last visit there, a bit foggy :( And yes, BTS skytrain is coooool, no stress and no traffic jam!
