Fort Worth was established as a frontier outpost in 1849. Named after army general William Jenkins Worth. It was briefly an army fort and a station for Texas Rangers. The town did not begin to grow until the cattle industry expanded in the late 1800's. My grandparents lived in a small town west of Fort Worth for many years. We often took trips in to Fort Worth to eat at restaurants or see the sites. I have not been to Fort Worth much since my grandmother died in 1995. Recently I was in Fort Worth again and revisited some of my favorite places. There was not time to revisit every place in Fort Worth I knew so some things will not have photos. |
