"Reston, A Planned Community" Reston by lmkluque
Reston Travel Guide: 19 reviews and 45 photos
Welcome to my Reston page,
Planned communities are especially nice for people who work in a metropolitan city like Washington DC, where the stress of "big city" life can wear one down.
From it's inception, the necessities, in a planned community, are provided for and the residents can worship, shop, dine-out or take part in cultural activities within their own communities.
The picture is of a dock on Lake Anne. Here, surrounded by homes, apartments and condos, you will find a grocery store, shops and restaurants, just a few minutes walk through a mini-forest, from your door. It is quite lovely.
Since I was there, Reston has grown quite a bit and the Lake Anne area may have changed too.
I Hope You Enjoy Your Visit,
Linda
- Pros:Small Community, easy to get around.
- Cons:Not Really a Tourist Haven
- In a nutshell:Great for a Relaxing time out of the Big City

I've been here. Thanks for the great tips!
Thanks for stopping at my Reston page Dee! What part of Reston did you stay in?
Hi Linda, we visited the huge shopping area. Very nice and ate at the Bowl. Not sure of the name, but the was great!
On the map, Reston looks alarmingly close to the airport. Do they have a noise problem? In Frankfurt we certainly do. (Especially the south end of Frankfurt and the adjoining suburbs.)
Thanks for the comment Don. No, the airport sounds did not seem to penetrate in this area. Maybe those tall trees served as a barrier to outside noise?
I love the trees, but I am afraid its jeans and tee shirts for me Linda :-)
I would like to see that place someday: not come-as-you-are place hehe :-) and to see those houses behind those trees :-).
Man made lake, seems like a huge housing estate, right?
What wonderful privacy with those trees and I like the idea of dressing up for dinner.
Excellent again Linda !
old trees with come not as you are culture
Interesting point of view about Reston.
Reston folks sound like a prim&proper bunch :-)
