Biking in La Jolla - La Jolla

Biking in La Jolla

Biking!

Throughout San Diego there are bike rental shops and La Jolla is no exception.

La Jolla is a mountianous area, well at least it's very hilly, so biking would not be my first choice of sport, but if it suits you, fear not. Bike rentals and even bike tours are offered here!

One tour that sounds interesting is from the top of Mount Soledad through some pretty neighborhoods and down to the beach. It is called the, La Jolla Plunge! Of course they offer various other tours, including a coastline ride.

If touring isn't your thing, just rent the bike and go off on your own!

Equipment: A bike, naturally. Oh, and you need to wear a helmet. It's the law.

Address: 2246 Avenue de la Playa

Directions: Near the beach in La Jolla Shores.

Mommy, I wanna Surf now! - La Jolla

Mommy, I wanna Surf now!

Surfing!

Not all of the beaches in La Jolla allow surfing, but several do and if that appeals to you then grab your board and come along.

If you don't have a surf board, pick one up at Hike Bike Kayak Inc. one of the surf shops on Avenida de la Playa and give it a try. The shop even gives surfing lessons. It brags that they will have you standing on the board within the two hour lesson or give you lunch! That's my kind of place.

Equipment: Lessons include a wetsuit, booties and a surfboard. You must be in good health and able to swim.

Address: 2246 Avenida De La Playa

Directions: Located at La Jolla Shores near the beach.

Seven Caves to Explore! - La Jolla

Seven Caves to Explore!

Kayaking!

Have you ever thought of coming to San Diego to kayak? Did you know that there are seven caves in San Diego to explore? Did you know that there is a 6,000 acre Underwater Park in San Diego? Well it is so and you'll find all this in La Jolla!

Kayaking is something like canoing. If the idea of kayaking on the ocean seems too adventurous for you, it is possible to try a calmer version at Mission Bay.

Equipment: If you don't have your own equipment or if you don't even know how to Kayak, but would like to learn, it is easier than you might realize.

There are rental places which also offer lessons and tour packages. The price of the lessons and tours include the rental of the Kayak.

Address: 2199 Avenida De La Playa

Directions: Loacted at La Jolla Shores just a few short blocks from the beach.
