The Flower Fields Carlsbad Flower Fields Review

In recent years it has become popular to drive up north from San Diego to see the vibrant rows of color created at The Flower Fields. More than 200,000 people visit the fields each year, from early March through early May. The Flower Field changed owners about ten years ago and have added a special nursery garden, a gift shop and there are festivals of one kind or another throughout the blooming season.

Children are welcome to run through the rows of flowers as their parents stroll along enjoying the beauty of nature.

Ranunculus known as Tecolote is the flower that started it all and now they have added other lovely varieties to the mix.

There is an admission charge:
$7.00 for Adults
$6.00 for Seniors 60+
$4.00 for Children 3 - 10
Children 2 and under are Free.

If you are a flower lover and intend to visit The Flower Fields while in the San Diego area, take a look at their web site for more useful information.

The Gazebo is the location of the Well. - Carlsbad

The Gazebo is the location of the Well.

Museum in the Basement

In the basement of the Carlsbad Mineral Spa is a museum about the history of the well and it's water. I didn't see it because the spa was closed when I arrived. Next time I go up, I'll check it out and add the information here.

Historic Site and Monument, Most Healthful Water - Carlsbad

Historic Site and Monument, Most Healthful Water

Carlsbad Mineral Spa Carlsbad Mineral Water Spring Review

The well that supplies the spa is in front of Alt Karlsbad Hanse House, a three-story, half-timbered turreted home.

Ludvik Grigoras from Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad, Czech Republic) restored the house and redrilled the well in 1992, after it suffered many years of decline. Ludvik and Veronica Grigoras personally decorated the spa, giving each room a theme of the early days of Egypt, Rome and the Orient. Prices range from $45.00 for a 30 minute "Cleopatra's" or "Ceasar's" massage, $60.00 for a 30 minute mineral water bath, up to $270.00 for the luxurious Dynasty Treatment.

By Appointments only!

Of course, if any of this is beyond your budget, you can connect with the history of Carlsbad by purchasing a 3 gallon bottle of Carlsbad Mineral Water for $5.50. (It can also be purchased in the spa in individual sizes.)

Captian John A. Frazier - Carlsbad

Captian John A. Frazier

Captian John A. Frazier

Captian John Frazier was a sea captain, who settled in the Carlsbad area in 1883, before it was called Frazier's Station or Carlsbad. He drilled two wells and struck water that seemed to him to have curative powers over his chronic rheumatism.

John offered his water to the California Southern Railroad and it's passengers arriving at the depot, which became known as Frazier's Station.

A Park made of bigger than life LEGOS. - Carlsbad

A Park made of bigger than life LEGOS.

LEGOLand! LegoLand Review

Legoland is a big Danish amusement park that caters to smaller children. The whole idea of it is that everything is built out of LEGOS.

LEGOLand wanted to live in Del Mar, but the citizens snubbed their nose at the idea and Carlsbad found a nice piece of land in its hinterland to offer.

It wasn't easy for me to find, even following directions so good luck!
