Welcome to my Stuttgart page,
The city of Stuttgart developed from a stud farm, thus it's name, Stuttgart and the black steed on the Coat of Arms.
Since that time, Stuttgart has been ravaged by wars, such as the Thirty Years War and WWII. Historical buildings of the city had to be restored or rebuilt many times.
In the early nineteenth century, history forced Stuttgart to change from the Regal region that it once was, to a more industrial area, reflecting the new era of technology. No where in my travles through Europe did I feel the presence of industry as strongly as I felt it walking out of the Hauptbahnhoff in Stuttgart.
The massive concrete buildings mixed with lovely gardens and flowing fountains created a contrast that made me think about the power of history and the people who survive.
I had one day to see some of Stuttgart. Of course, that wasn't enough and I hope to have more time to spend on my next trip.
I Hope You Enjoy Your Visit, Linda |

mvtouring Thu Nov 8, 2007 05:18 UTC Lovely page, thanks for all the trouble ;-) | Kuznetsov_Sergey Sat Jan 20, 2007 20:23 UTC Interesting page with relic pics which make it even more attractive. Stuttgart escaped from me since 1999 when I passed it by for the first time. May be next year... Thanks Linda for sharing! | Nemorino Mon Dec 11, 2006 23:12 UTC Thanks for going to the trouble to scan in those historic pre-digital 1988 photos. (I haven't even bought a scanner yet; keep putting it off.) That's a weird story about waiting around at the station; I'm impressed that you took it in such good humor. | Jim_Eliason Mon Dec 22, 2003 02:00 UTC Nice photos! |
