INDONESIA
While traveling through Indonesia, a visit to Taman Safari might be on your list of places to visit!
Drive through the park and see most of the animals roaming free!! Amazing as it may seem, even the lions weren't caged in! To be honest, I'd have to say that it was just too darn hot for those lazing lions to do anything but sleep in the shade anyway.
I held a baby lion and a baby tiger, which was a unique experience. Whether or not you are traveling with children, this is an exciting place to visit.

MALAYSIA
There were many surprising sites such as this beautiful arch across the highway. Throughout the country--at least the part of Malaysia I saw--there was a fantastic mix of natural landscape and fascinating old and modern man-made structures that sparked the imagination of the history this country has survived.
Indonesia was full of surprises as well, one of the most impressive was the neighborhood designed for blind people. The network of small pedestrian steets leading from the back doors in this neighborhood allowed blind people to get around safely.
It helped that I arrived with no expectations, other than to visit my friends, so everything was a treat!
A Cool Place To Hang Out!
Indonesia: Bogor is a city not far outside of Jakarta. One of it's most endearing qualities to me, was the cooler climate! I'm guessing that the altitude was higher--as it seemed the higher the elevation the cooler the weather in this part of the world.
The Botanical Gardens were beautiful and the facility primarily conducts scientific research. These gardens would therefore appeal to the casual nature lover and to those who have a more scholarly interest.
One of the most fascinating specimens they have is the huge Rafflesia arnoldi, the largest flower in the world that blooms once a year, at midnight and last only a few days. I missed seeing it by three days!
The photo is of the old Summer Residence left over from Dutch Colonial times, still kept beautiful and alluring.

SINGAPORE
SINGAPORE is an interesting country and city! The flavor of Asia is here in many forms and the flavor of the Western idea of organization can be found as well.
If your time here is limited, take a taxi and ask that he show you the interesting places to visit on your next trip.
Most of my time in Singapore was spent at the airport, though I did get a bit of a tour throughout the city and spent some time in one of it's grand shopping malls!
My Indonesian and Malaysian friends travel to Singapore for two things mainly, shopping and seeing the doctor. Something like San Diegans going to Tijuana for shopping and visiting the dentist.
There are so many beautiful places to see in Singapore, this Mosque is just one. It was built in 1824 with the help of Sir Stamford Raffles and the East India Company. Sultan Hussain Shah, the ruler of Temasek--Singapore's former name--first proposed the project and through the years since then additions have been added.
I would have liked to have had more time for seeing all the interesting places, but at least our Hindu taxi driver gave us a lovely tour.
