MADAGASCAR

by drolkar - last update: Sep 11, 2002

Madagascar, the world's fourth-largest island, was first settled by Malay-Polynesian mariners some 1500 years ago. Subsequent arrivals included Africans, Arabs, Indian and Portuguese traders and French colonials.

The result? Eighteen different tribes whose varying combinations of African and Asian traits reflect the diversity of the island's heritage. Simply beautiful!

If you are planning a trip to Madagascar, try contacting <font color=green><b>Cortez Travel</font></b> in California, the agency that booked my trip (<b>"Monique" at Cortez-USA@mcimail.com</b>). They were very helpful to me !

Fascinating island! I knew about lemurs and chameleons but I didn't know that baobab tree is native to Madagascar.
