Work is still in progress on this page... with the latest addition being the Boston in Autumn Travelogue.
By American standards Boston is an old city, so its architecture presents a curious amalgamation of history and modernity... Here, for example, we have the OLD STATE HOUSE against the backdrop of skyscrapers and surrounded by traffic! This building was the seat of British power in its American colonies (note the lion and the unicorn on its roof), and the American Declaration of Independence had its first public reading on the front balcony.
As an aside, the BOSTON MASSACRE (March 5th, 1770)occurred on the small raised area of pavement just in front of the Old State House... (Please see the photo in Travelogue #2.)
<marquee>Welcome to Boston!</marquee>
|
