On the 3rd day of our trip to S. New Mexico & Texas, & on the way back to El Paso airport, we stopped at Guadalupe Mountains National Park. After getting a speeding ticket in New Mexico, I was relieved to hit the Texas border, where I could finally drive over 55 mph once again. Just past the border I smiled and welcomed the first of many 70 mph speed limit signs to come.
Though we didn't have the time to explore the park's 80 miles of hiking trails, we did enjoy the rugged scenery of the Guadalupe Range, a small museum and Visitor's Center.
Entrance Fee: $3 US for 7 days
Guadalupe Range: Rises 8,749 ft. above the west Texas desert.
El Capitan: At the apex of the range....a 2000 ft. sheer cliff.

Just returned from Guadalupe Mt. NP and loved reading your experiences upon my return. Thanks!
Wild, rugged scenery ! -- some years since I was in Texas and unfortunately didn't get to see this NP -- very nice page, thank you.
I had quite the camping experience here myself. You missed a great hike to the top of Texas' highest peak. Greetings from chilly Florida. ;)
I'd love to visit that park one day. It is so out of the way from anything else, I have not been able to do it so far! Great page!
I'm reading a novel about a ranger in Guadalupe Mtn NP (Track of the cat - by Nevada Barr) and was just curious how it looks like. Seems to be an awesome place.
I was there exactly a year ago WOW! I wasn't at hiking mood so I did take... the same pics as you haha and enjoyed it a lot at the way to Carlsbad caverns. Warm greetings from Poland :-)))
Hi Ann, I camped at Pine Springs and climbed Guadalupe Peak several yhears ago. Thanks for the good memories. Nice new pic of you too. Stephen
Did Sharrie help with the cost of the traffic ticket?
Wow, what a place! So barren! Beautiful photos of Guadalupe Mountains National Park!
Nice rocks!
