"Solvang - A taste of Denmark" Solvang by annk
Solvang Travel Guide: 267 reviews and 672 photos
Solvang was established by a group of Danish educators in 1911. It's main attraction is the traditional architecture, windmills, museums, shops and bakeries. Bakeries and candy stores are everywhere. You could smell the delectible danish treats everywhere while walking around town. Just too tempting!!
Some people view Solvang as a tourist trap and I'd agree but the architecture is charming.
Solvang is located about 45 miles north of Santa Barbara and 150 miles north of Los Angeles. It's located in the Santa Ynez valley that has over 40 wineries, a few tasting rooms are in town.
Tinkan arranged a VT meeting Easter weekend, April 10th and 11th, 2004. It was a perfect location for a get together and a nice place to stroll around.
- Pros:Charming small town that resembles a Danish village
- Cons:Not the place to visit if you are on a diet

Hey, I didn't know America had a Danish capital :) Nice page, thanks for sharing! Mm, Danish pastries, dessert time here... greetings from Sofia
My sister lived here before she moved to Santa Maria, before she moved to Scotland. It was a fun town to walk around in and I'll bet Sideways isn't hurting it's popularity. Thanks for the tips!
Hi Ann very nice Town ,Solvang is Lori & Hansi visited this Town few months ago ,we liked it a lot Great place for a VT meeting I would say. I dis stand next to Hans Chistian Andersen hehe. Great page you made Ann We will meet next time I am sure .
Ann this sounds like a great place to visit or even honeymoon. I just heard of it although I have been to Cali to many times to count. Great page. =^oo^=
What I remember about the area were the big sand dunes closer down past Santa Maria that we used to hang glide off. Try getting off the ground after all of that Danish!
You have to love the different ethnic areas and all they bring. That dinner sounded great, I would love to try that. What a great town, who would know you were in California :-)
Sorry I missed Solvang, thanks for the delicious cookies and the postcard.
Great to see you with your dogs! Haha, was it the first doggy VT meeying? I miss you, USA and Solvang as well :-) Hugs!
You've got to be kidding! This must have brought back memories of your Baltic cruise. Hard to picture Hollanders leaving such a mark in southern CA.
Great smelling bakeries, wine, good company with fellow VTers . . . this page has it all.
