The town of Girdwood lies 40 miles/64.3 km south of Anchorage and is home to Alaska's largest ski area - the Alyeska Resort. It's popular as both a winter and summer resort destination and offers a number of activities including skiing, snowmobiling, hiking and bicycling to name a few.
On our way to Seward from Anchorage we decided to stop by since it's a very scenic area and I wished to see the Alyeska Prince Hotel and if time permitted take the tramway. Well, the tramway was not running too frequently and our time was limited so we briefly toured the Alyeska Prince Hotel, had lunch and continued on our way. |
