"Reykjavik - The northern most capital" Reykjavík Region by annk
Reykjavík Region Travel Guide: 1,690 reviews and 3,757 photos
Reykjavik is the northern most capital in the world with a population of over 200,000. The name was given by the first settler Ingolfur Arnasson and means "Bay of Smoke". Sort of ironic in a pollution free, clean environment. I found it refreshing to experience a capital city without crowds, congestion, pollution, traffic jams and road rage. In fact the city appeared pretty quiet never too many people walking around. I've heard the nightlife is pretty lively but did not have a chance to experience since we toured all day, everyday, too tired by late evening and preparing for the next day ahead.
Reykjavik is a good base for day trips to the natural wonders outside the city. Lots of tours are available either by bus, plane or boat, guided or unguided depending on your budget.
All photos were taken by me.
- Pros:Crisp, clean & uncrowded
- Cons:unpredictable weather

Very nice page you have here, I enjoyed it ;-)
Ciao Ann, great Reykjavik page!!! Iceland is one of my best places I ever been!! Thanks to visit my Saint Moritz page. Ciao ciao
G'day Ann. Lovely pix of the city with all those colourful roofs. Glad to see you had a couple of vt meets there too!! Cute horse pic. Cheers, Ann :o)
Really appreciate the transportation tips, etc. Love the Icelandic ponies--in 1983, they had postage stamps with the ponies/horses so I just had to get some!
Stunning page Ann! I loved Iceland myself, too bad all my visits were in winter :) The next time I'll be sure to catch more daylight too!
Great page with stunning pictures and decorated with that cute Icelandic horse. Unique country = a must for me sooner or later :-)
Ann don;t the cold crisp air give u a gr8 feeling? u r so close u should visit the canadian north too, places like whitehorse and yellowknife would be gr8 choices!!

I used to work at this hotel before it got to be Radisson. Good photos Ann
We LOVED Iceland, Ann. Your photos at Hallgrimskirkja and the Einar Johanson gallery brought memories of a lovely Saturday afternoon back in 2002.
