One of the highlights of my Iceland trip was experiencing the beautiful icy wonders of Vatnajokull Glacier, and cruising the Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon. The sights experienced that day, glaciers, snow & icebergs, are probably how most visualize Iceland, an incorrect pre-conceived notion that Iceland is all ice! In reality it comprises only 10%, the terrain a diversity of black & moss covered lava fields, desert, green pastures and mountains, quaint fishing villages, rocky coastlines, fjords & geological wonders galore. But for now, back to the snow & ice.....

We booked a day trip with Reykavik Excursions, not cheap by all means, over $300 U.S., but well worth it. Our trip began with a 55 minute flight on a small 20 seat plane from Reykavik to Hofn. From the Hofn airport we boarded a bus that took us to our destinations.

Some really good shots of the icebergs on the lake. You show a very different world, one that I had not considered before.
