Getting TO/AROUND: Arrived by train from Verona, rail system pretty good. Was pleasantly surprised that when you exit the station you are right at the Grand Canal! When we left Venice en route to Annecy, we were very politely kicked out of our seats. Didn't realize commuters had reserved seats. If you drive, there is a multi-level parking garage, and that's as far as you will get with your car in Venice. Vaporetto's (boats that operate like buses) or by foot. As I mentioned before, the water taxi's are very expensive. Unfortunately, we had to take one back to the train station since we had the first train out, 6:30 am, and the vaparetto's were not running that frequently yet.
