Colmar is the best preserved town in Alsace despite it's troubled past with previous wars starting as far back as the 12th century up to the 2nd WW. The appeal of the town lies in it's Alsatian character, with colorful, half-timbered houses, ornamentation and abundant flowers. It is also the wine capital of Alsace and an important cultural and tourist center.
Colmar was our base for exploring the Alsace region. Spent 4 nights there and also visited Strasbourg and 3 smaller towns on the wine route. |
