Our people’s tragedy can be summed up in a single sentence: the Chinese People’s Republic illegally occupies Tibet. As long as the invader’s troops remain on Tibetan soil, this tragedy will persist, whatever else they may pretend. The longer the occupying forces remain, the worse the situation will become. It is not possible to believe that a colonial power can occupy a country, decimate its population and systematically destroy its culture with the intention of serving that country’s interests."</FONT >
