Comfortable hotels in Nouanchott (many), Chinguetti (at least three), Ouadane (three), Atar. Definitely the best accomodation is your tent in the desert. Although I really hate to pitch my tent every night and to pack it away every morning, it was great to sleep in the desert listening out for… the deepest silence or … jackals barking just outside your tent! But don't be frightened, I found the desert a very safe place in the night. And what to do if you are fond of shower? Roberta, my friend, can teach how to wash the whole body (+ hair) whit a little bit less than two litres of water!

Anyway, we survived at nine nights in the desert; two in Nouanchott, hotel Honda + host family, two in Ouadane (I don't remember the hotel name), one in Atar (host family). If you have the chance, don't miss the opportunity to spend at least one night as a guest in a Mauritanian family: you'd easier understand the life-style in this country. The picture shows our accommodation in Ouadane: a nomadic tent - hotel.
