In comparison with other places, Mauritania is itself “off the beaten path”.
A trip in Mauritania is a trip in the middle of nowhere, in the “Big Nothing” (Le Grand Vide, as the French colonialist called the country).
No cities (Nouanchott, the capital, was founded in 1960), no “monuments”, no “cultural events”, no “nightlife”, etc.
So, why a trip to Mauritania?
Because in “the big nothing” about 2.700.000 people live, with their history, languages, custom, culture, art…
Because meeting people and sharing experiences is worth doing everywhere.</font>

Titti, Enjoyed a wonderful virtual tour of Mauritania. Do as the Romans do - sleep in the tents! Noted that your introduction showed that you have use HTML markers - VT support only VTML and it is easy to use. Cheers, SL

Lovely photos and insightful tips. It must be great to sleep in a tent in the desert. (Thanks for your help on the Verona Forum.)
