I arrived in Brookville a sunday evening after a quite exciting trip started at Newark airport, where the people at the information desk didn't know about the place. I went to Grand Central Terminal, NY, by bus; there, I asked again for Brookville. Again, nobody knew.
I had a small map of the campus and I could see a street number (278). The same number was in the subway map, so I took the subway to Queens, that I left I didn't know where. Again asked for Brookville; again nobody knew. I took a taxi; the driver said he knew Brookville and asked for 8 $. After half an hour I realized we were exactly where we started from. The driver didn't know about Brookville... He went to an office for taxi, they called a number I had, and asked how to reach Brookville. We were quite far; at the end the taxi fare was 20 $, but I reached Brookville!!!

It appears that your tips are on the wrong Brookville page. This Brookville is no where near Manhattan.

I looked at the map for this travel guide and this Brookville is near Buffalo.

be glad you didn't ask for Old Brookville or adjacent Muttontown (where I lived 23 yrs). You would still be driving around. :)
