"Eastern Maine" Lubec by DrRodder

Lubec Travel Guide: 15 reviews and 30 photos

While working in Calais, ME., I stopped out to one of the eastern most point of the main land, Lebec, ME. I took some photos of the sunset looking back northwest. There are no major chains of any kind, but the local restaurant off a wide variety of see food. Worth the time to stop, eat and take in the surroundings.

When driving out in the north eastern part of Maine, you do have to watch the road carefully in the evening for moving shadows (also known as a moose crossing). Though not common to most parts of the country, they are here.

Calais Maine is a border town located on the river between Maine and Canada. Hwy 9 is the most traveled route for vacationers and truckers between the two countries. The best place to stay the night (state side) is at the Calais Motor Inn just south of downtown on hwy 1.
