    • Be sure not to make noise or flash light (eg photo blitz) at the nakamals. This could annoy the locals quite a bit.

    • Vanuatu have severe storms now and then. Earthquakes of some danger also occur. There are also
    tsunamis now and then. As late as 1999 a tsunami killed people. Travelling outside the months of
    December to March, you should avoid all these 'dangers.'

    • Vanuatu got no poisonous spiders, snakes or whatever. In the sea there are lionfish, stonefish and the odd shark however. Malaria is still by far the most dangerous creature there....

    • Everything's expensive. You simply won't get very far without money. Not a budget destination.

    The malaria risk is fairly high everwhere except in Port Vila and on Futuna Island.

    At night, potholes you dont spot can be a problem.

    If you violate custom rules, e.g. use a beach owned by locals without permission, you can be in deep trouble if unlucky. I didn't experience this myself, but read stories in the news there. The problem is most present in the most rural areas.

    Kava drinking can make you unable to walk.
