Deming

DAC-Deming arts council has a different monthly exhibit that is free to the public and volunteer-run. You can also support local artists and the community arts by purchasing items, both small and large, from the gift shop area. Donations are welcomed!

The Luna-Mimbres History Museum-ancient native pottery and other items, old equipment, tools, pictures, play things. All devoted to the county, area and ancient natives from the area. Entry is free but donations are most welcome as the facility is run by volunteers. There is a small gift shop.

Rockhound and Spring Canyon parks and recreational areas- low admission for day-use, walking paths, picnic areas, pets welcome (please bring pet waste bags on your walk just in case) . Rockhound has camping areas (bring camper and tent area fees) and allows visitors to bring out their own found rocks to a certain limit! This is the only park you can remove rocks from, legally, in the continental US. They have a lovely visitors center and usually polished rocks from the area you can exchange for a small donation if you do not wish to bring home a rough specimen.

Veterans park/Pit park-there is a sunken desert garden park on the East end of town, pets and bicycles welcome. Free admission, picnic tables, and it is across from the movie theatre/indoor miniature golf course/bowling/small arcade area/restaurant building complex!

Geocachers will also find many places to stop off at, in both easy locations and off-road areas.

Food and Drink:
Food-
Irmas Restaurant, Patio Cafe, Mimbres Brewing company
Drink-
Wine tasting is free for about 3 samples at both of the following establishments.
Saint Clair Winery, outside city limits on the East end of town-Highway 549
and
Luna Rossa Winery and Vineyard on the far West end of Deming.

A good start. I think I will have to go there to try those yummy sounding cinnamon buns.
