A couple of Queensland favourites. Crocodylus which is a form of hostel. Dorm accommodation and double occupancy cabins are available. We opted for our own cabin with bathroom.
Also, our stay on a dairy farm in the Tablelands. The photo is the view from the Fairview Dairy Farm, note the mist on the hills....this was such a peaceful place.

Unique Qualities: The Crocodylus was in the rainforest, with all of the noises you'd expect to hear in a jungle, particularly at night. Also, the general feel of the place was that of a hippyish community, relaxed and friendly. You could volunteer to do waitress service and in return you got a free dinner. Great for anyone travelling on a small budget.
The farmstay was just up my street as I love animals. There was a gazebo in the garden, which looked onto a really beautiful view of open fields (if you've seen the film Babe, think of scenery like that) which had a lovely mist over them first thing in the morning. The owners also had a pet lamb who thought he was human. I bottle fed him every morning, he was adorable. They also had a tame possum, who they named Blossum. She was gorgeous, she would sit on our shoulders quite happily, and she liked to take the occasional sip of larger! I also hand milked a cow, which is much harder than it looks. My favourite thing though was to sit in the gazebo with the cat or the kitten on my knee, just feeling totally 'at home'. The owners were lovely people, I got on really well with them.
