Temple de la Sagrada Familia: La Sagrata Familia
  • Tip Rating:
  • Being born in Rome, I have the problem that monuments normally don't impress me too much, unless they have something unique.
Said that, I was almost moved to tears when I saw the Gaudi' side of the Sagrata Familia church. Its pure emotion, original and overwhelming, homogeneous and articulated. When I read that was just a side of the church, I was astonished. I wonder what it could have been if he completed it.

More Art / Architecture: The modernists' architecture
  • Tip Rating:
  • Of course you all know about modernist architects in Barcelona, but to see those architectural jewels was really special. I am an engineer, and that means I should like square efficient structures and mind set... Then you see those building, so inefficient and rules-breaking and you understand it is possible, it is armonic, it is expanding your mental limits.

Las Ramblas: Las Ramblas y Gothic Quarter
  • Tip Rating:
  • Getting a taste of local lifestyle and people it is important to me. So, while my friends were having a bus tour I went strolling by myself at the ramblas (large walking avenue) and thru the small streets of the closeby gothic quarter. I enjoy visiting those little shops, watching the people having the late cappuccino and pastry, their old houses so similar to Rome and its middle age areas.

     BARCELONA A MAGICAL CITY

Good tips. I was impressed by Barcelona and Gaudi's masterpieces as well. I think that it's the best of larger European cities (with Krakow, Poland haha; I wasn't in London yet though). See you in Verona :-)
