When visiting the Grand Palace I was overwhelmed by the beauty of magnificient frescos and statues there. Most of them are referring to the
Ramakien, the Siamese version of the Ramayana story from India, others were of Chinese imperial origin. Other details referred to later French and English influence.
All of them, in my eyes, were testifying the sincere curiosity, tolerance and spirituality of a people, capable of absorbing so many external elements and at the same time, as I learnt, maintain its uniqueness and independence after all.
