The cleanest city in Madagascar

I consider Mahajanga to be the best city so far in all Madagascar. It's municipality functions properly, they are very careful about their touristic image and are visibly trying their best to impress their visitors. clean roads, organized, uniform color transportation, declared fares.

Electricity is stable and does not cutoff except seconds. it is safe to walk in Mahajanga at 10 or 11 at night without any trouble. Although you may hear an occasional (Vasaha) as you pass by, which means "white man" or generally a person with money, which indicates that they are remarking about your presence there. however, no one approaches you except with a smile and an eager look to perhaps have the chance of talking with you. it is quite likely to be approached by a passer-by with a polite nod and a "bon jour or Bon soir" at any time, which i suggesting replying to with the same polite responce.

Women are often seen in public wearing the traditional BAOBAB tree saw dust mask, which protects their skin from the hot sun and keeps wrinkles out for a few more years. they may look funny but this thing really works. consider trying it.

Life in Madagascar is liberal. it is easy to have a mate. chose wisely and use proper protection.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:clean, safe, liberal, mixed reces
  • Cons:high unemployment. seasonal migrant agro jobs
  • In a nutshell:a good city to spend some time in.
