I will always have a fond spot in my heart for the UK; it was my first trip abroad as I was chosen to study there for my sophomore year. No one in my family had ever been out of the country for non-war reasons and it was with great anticipation that I was off to virgin territory. Shipped to London on Air India, I had my first curry on the plane and I knew then and there that my life would never be the same. I would do the typical month tour of Europe prior to school starting, but I did enter via London and got my first real taste of living abroad in the seacoast resort of Brighton, traveling weekends to various parts of mainly southeastern Britain though I did manage a trip up to Scotland. This page is a bit of a mish mash of various trips ranging back to my baptism of fire, my first trip with Kristin, some great places visited during our around the world tour, and finally my solo journeys of late. You can pretty much tell which is which. The black and whites are old and better photos are from my latest travels. Guess I did learn something snapping all those rolls of film!

The United Kingdom is a place that never ceases to amaze me. Filled with history and a gentle pastoral beauty, it captures your imagination with castles, aged pubs, rolling hills and forests out of Robin Hood lore. Though I have been there many times and have seen a fair amount, I know well there is much more for me to see and hope to over the years. Like a good friend, I seem to go back and visit often.

An entertaining read of your encounters with the UK! It's always good to have a look at the old photos but, for now, I think I will keep my 1974 ones under wraps!
