Lacking the funky bourgeoisie atmosphere of nearby Montreal and big city hustle bustle of Province mate Toronto, Ottawa must be resigned to being merely the capital of the entire nation. Much as Washington, DC pales in comparison to world-renowned New York City, Canada’s capital likewise suffers some strains of identity crisis. But anyone that ventures for even a minute inspection will gladly find that this most unpretentious of capitals befits its easygoing country perfectly. It is very user friendly with an understandable mass transit system and easy to walk around old town center. With its impressive if small collection of architectural wonders, some fine museums, and a more than adequate café scene, Ottawa presents travelers with a great stopover on their way around the natural wonders of Ontario, always Canada’s main drawing card. |
