“Oklahoma City looks oh so pretty” Nat King Cole sang in “Route 66” and that was all I knew of the Oklahoma state capitol until some deranged minds decided that their discontent should be taken out on about a thousand innocent people. If nothing else, it showed that Americans can be just as good a terrorist as our more routinely feared enemies. Prior to that, the fair citizens of the pretty city were branded ultra conservative when they not only banned the German film, “The Tin Drum” as child pornography but sent their local police out to private homes to confiscate copies. I guess on such a flat horizon, people have to make their own molehills. The city has built a moving monument to the atrocity which should not be missed but driving to and away, I tried to keep Nat's more complimentary description more in mind. It didn't seem particularly apropos but neither did the idea that someone would blow a building up with people in it.
Oklahoma City is a convenient stop when driving across country with a few nice sights and ample places to grab a bite to eat and a drink. Oklahoma was my last of the 50 United States that I've been to. It was bittersweet as I had done most of the other ones in my old Honda Civic which I had to finally give up when it passed the 250,000 mile mark.

Nicely worded as always, but I think making one's own molehills has little to do with the landscape or terrain and more to do with a divisive culture. Take those people who live over the river for instance. . .
OK, you've answered my question, since Oklahoma was the last of your fifty states. I was glad to learn that they have built the Oklahoma National Memorial as a monument to the people killed in the 1995 bombing.
Never been to Oklahoma and my mental images of it all come from Grapes of Wrath - I can see I need to update them
Richie, you are setting a blistering pace with these cross-country tips of yours! I've had to step on the gas to keep up. I like the looks of the Bricktown boat and area, reminds me of a similar project in Milwaukee!
hothouse is very different to that of Edinburgh Royal Botanical Gardens ;-)))
Haha, if D even smiles when you say that this was not planned.... Have you been in London? The canals look like that you've been :-)
jajaja...it hard to belief that your timing was not planned...sneaky ;p
