Redbones: pulled pork & best beer selection in town....

One of Massachussetts funkier bars doubles as perhaps the best outlet of bbq this side of the Mason Dixon line. Add to that the most adventurous beer line up in town and you have one must see restaurant.

Favorite Dish: We made the mistake of order TWO combo platters of pulled pork and ribs. One would have easily been enough for both of us. We thought $12.95 was expensive till we saw it. The Memphis style ribs were out of this world.

Though the interior is non-descript and modern, the service is good, the beers great and the food is eclectic and reasonable.

Favorite Dish: We had tried quite a few pumpkin ales on this trip through New England but Cambridge made by far the best example. Full of pumpkin but still with a nice dry palate and very much a beer, not a slice of pie. ;) The Bodacious Bitter is a hoppy delight as well. We had eaten a big lunch so we just split a brick oven pizza that was an excellent accompaniment to their house-made brews.

John Harvard's Brew House: John Harvard's Brewhouse.

This in one member of a chain of brewpubs around the northeast of the US. Though not a big fan of such operations normally, the make some great beers and have a knack for creating a English pub decor too. Certainly worth a stop if you are in Cambridge and wanting a beer. ;)

Favorite Dish: The Milk Stout is quite nice and be sure to try anything they have that is cask condtioned.

This was the greatest of Boston's brewpubs, with four very authentic English style cask conditioned ales. I am sorry to say it ceased operation as of 2002. May it rest in peace....
