The best way to come to the Keys is by car. It allows you the freedom to stop along the way and enjoy the wonders of the Overseas Highway that spans a multitude of bridges and small keys, all the way to Key West.
Most of the towns are small enough to explore by foot but to get to places out of the town you are staying, you need a car or at least a bike.
