Glacier Bay is a place that dreams are made up of. Towering blue ice walls drape down towards iceberg clad waters teeming with wildlife like whales, Orcas, seals, and otters. Grizzly, moose, and wolves roam the shores and the sky is filled with everything from bald eagles to oyster catchers. And what makes it all the more special is their obvious oblivion to you. It’s as if you are not there. With so few visitors for them to come into contact with, they are truly wild animals unlike some National Parks where they come out for their feeding at intervals. If you took the cruise ships out of this area, it would pretty much be as it was when the glaciers first receded after forming these fjords. Even with the cruise ship traffic bringing in the majority of those that visit the area, there are still plenty of places to escape to and see this magnificent area without having to see anyone. All it takes is a bit of adventure in your soul, a trust that nature is not out to get you, and the willingness to use your body to propel you through what may first appear a hostile environment but presents itself in time as all the wonder your heart has ever yearned for. Come see a place that’s absolute magic. Come and see Glacier Bay. |
