Amsterdam is a surprisingly romantic city. All you hear about is the Red Light District and coffee shops that sell hash and marijuana, but the vast majority of the city is a winding maze of narrow steets and picturesque canals. Add to this an impressive array of museums, restaurants of every persuasion, and fantastic cafes with amazing beer selections, and you have a great getaway that certainly doesn't have to involve illicit sex or getting stoned. Of course, Amsterdam offers this as well, but that's just part of it's well rounded nature. They pretty much have everything here! |

Frankly, I was disappointed with the beer and cafe scene in Amsterdam having just come up from Belgium. Of course, I should've checked out your tips first--might have made all the difference. |
