Salzburg seemed to be a place I always passed by. As a 19 year old sophomore it didn’t quite make my can’t miss list on my virgin trip to Europe. Ten years later, I chose neighbor Vienna over the Sound of Music wonder. Fifteen years passed and I found myself living in Munich, a mere two hours away and I still couldn’t manage to make the trek until VTer SandySmith wrote and told me she’d be in Austria. She was to be in a small mountain village and it would be time consuming and expensive for her to come to Munich and likewise my going there looked like too much a hassle. So, we decided that meeting in Salzburg would be a good halfway point. I’d like to tell you I saw Salzburg at its majestic best but I’m afraid the chosen day was a gray drizzly affair. As it turned out, with such a small amount of time, it might have been just perfect weather for a meeting with one of my very favorite VTers. After a perfunctory tour of the city sights and a dismal photo or two, we settled into the task at hand; having a nice chat and of course, finding a few interesting beers. Oh, didn’t I mention that I’d done some research and found out that Salzburg was a beer Mecca just waiting to be explored? Sandy didn’t expect anything less. What transpired was a fun filled afternoon that finished all too quickly. I didn’t expect anything less either. Thanks Sandy and Dave for taking the alternative tour of Salzburg. I hope you enjoyed it as much we did.

it's funny I have always managed to "miss Salzburg" in much the same way! Will have to get there someday... on a sunnier day I hope :P
