"Chasing a reflection of the dawn: Tre Cime" Lago di Misurina by richiecdisc
Lago di Misurina Travel Guide: 28 reviews and 44 photos
Italy’s Dolomites offers perhaps the most spectacular mountain scenery in all of Europe and the signature peaks that define the region are known as the Tre Cime or Drei Zinnen. These three jagged forces of nature protrude from their surroundings in rude fashion, leaving debris in all directions and demanding all to notice their rugged demeanor. But with such splendor comes the cost of being sought after by too many suitors and hence the area is overrun with tourists and more expensive than neighboring valleys. Still, if one plans well and is willing to get up at the crack of dawn, you can still have the area to yourself. What follows is a story of one such well-planned day. As with all my pages, this one makes more logical sense if you start your reading with "General Tips."

Lucky you two, almost alone in Paradise! Everyone I know who went there talks of 3 Cime full parking, too chic Cortina etc. Good trick getting up at dawn. This inspires me for my Bernina Pass dream...tks R & D! :)
Looks like a great hike it has to go on the list. Thanks Happy Trails
Beautiful story!
Is that the best you can do with your photos? You'll have to lift your game! Cheers, Ian
:-)))
Mmmm... Tre Cime! Actually I couldn't see them because when I was there the weather sucked. It was raining and snowing most of the time. So I must go there again to enjoy the spectacular views :-)
A brilliant page Richie! Amazing photos of these very scenic and rugged peaks as well as an entertaing commentary! Great information for any future intrepid explorers!!
Wow! This is really a gorgeous and well-written page! Beautiful, beautiful place! Maybe you didn't get the WHOLE peak , but it IS a stunning picture! I can't believe there was a guy hiking in his underwear! LOL
You should submit this piece to Conde Nast. It's amazing how you describe the place and the people - like I was being there too. Wonderful!
What a beautiful place, amazing landscapes. :-)
